App / task killers, battery saver apps etc

Firstly just like to say thanks to uliwooly and ykphuah for you recent advice about app killers. I also took the time to read the "how to geek" article you provided a link for.

I know now that these apps are not a good idea, so my next question to the forum is; Are any of the memory booster / storage space booster apps any good or are they a waste of time as well.?

If you stream music (Spotify, pandora, etc) and also use instagram, facebook, pinterest, etc every week or every two weeks clear the app data

settings > apps > clear app data.

In previous android version it was a lot easier

settings > apps > all > menu > sort by size then tap on each of the top apps > clear cache and data > repeat as needed.

Hi,

I assume you are talking about more on the memory as in internal memory /sd card memory than the RAM part.?

apps like storage space boosters/memory booster will work better if they are given root permission( more like admin privileges in windows terms). but given they are installed as is, they only clean unimportant logs, app data, thumbnails, etc, they sometimes give a placebo effect that you gained 100+mb of space but in reality, once you open say the Album app and the system re creates the thumbnails again then the 100mb are gone. to really save space in your device you can try to do the following:

1.) Uninstall unused apps/games

2.) move some app images music to your external memory (sd card)

3.) use cloud services

4.) clear each app data in settings menu.

for  me, they are usefull in terms that they can make it easy to clear data of apps all at once, especially with the internet browsers, however I do not use one. Xperia X does include a Smart Cleaner, so I hope sony would bring this to all its devices

You can clear all app cache in one click by going to Settings -> Storage -> wait for the system to calculate each component space -> tap on cached data -> confirm deletion of app cache
