Headset not supported use another headset or visit SM Support for more info

Hello, I am using xPeria m4 AQUA Dual and when I connect my headset I get a warning that the Headset not supported use another headset or visit Sony Mobile Support for more info. I have updated my android to Android 6.0 a few days back. Before updating, i didnt have any problem like this. And the headset that is getting the warning was working fine before and even a few days after updating the android version.

I roam around this support center a lot and found some similar problems for some other model devices, I followed some of them. Like, I cleared cache, force stopped and disabled 'Smart Connect', it worked for the first time but not working anymore.

So, is there any legit solution to this? TIA

Could you test a different pair of headphones?

yes i did, the headset was running ok with my phone even before a few days. After the android update it is no longer working. If i try some other headset and btw my headset also runs in a same model phone but not android updated. So, surely this is happening for the android update, is there any way I can use it again??

I had exactly the same problem on the 26th September,i was listening to music with my headphones when, suddenly, they stopped working. Now i cannot listen to music with any headphones because they are not "supported". I haven't fixed the problem yet.

Hi,

I also encounter this issue. I tried with 3 different headsets (including the one I got with the phone): I had the popup for all of them.

"Simple" earphones work correctly.

I found a way to have the headset correctly detected : maintain the Call button pressed.

I tried to deactivate Smart Connect and a factory reset (using PC Companion): no change.

It was working fine a few weeks ago (I was already on 6.0.1), so I am wondering which recent update (Android/Sony/3rd party) breaks the feature.
