internal memory consumed by gallery thumbnails

In my phone a large amount of internal memory is consumed by gallery thumbnails(about 750 mb).android app clean master is not effective.what should I do to get release this bulk memory????

Are you sure? It might take some time until it will scan all your data again.

it will rebuild my SD card media also? both my internal storage and Sd card is occupied but i cant see any photo. i also cant see them by connecting phone to pc

Yes,it should.You could boot in safe mode and let it scan your media:

I'll tell you my problem in detail. I own a Xperia M dual phone and It has a very limited phone memory.

The total space shown is 2.01 Gb. Used by Pictures and videos 1.15gb and available was around 260 mb. Whenever i delete some apps or clear cache the memory increases to a few extent. But the issue started when i tried to delete my pictures and videos from the phone.

Firstly, My pictures and videos showed 1.15gb of memory used by them. So, to deal with the isuue i deleted all my pics and videos in my phone. Still, the issue was there and it showed same amount of memory being used by them.

So, Secondly i used an app to clean the memory but still it continued and my internal memory still was consumed by gallery thumbnails.

So, I connected my phone in my pc and saw around that much memory in my .thumbnails folder being used.

So, Thirdly i went through this forum and deleted my .thumbnails folder and then created a new one with the same one.

The folder was deleted still it showed that 1.15 gb being used by pictures,videos. I deleted the folder, but it doesn't seem to have any impact on the phone's storage.

So, Fourthly, I went to settings-apps-all-media storage,force stop and clear data. And i restarted my phone. Even after scanning it showed only 260 mb available and 1.15gb being used by gallery. At this point too my phone doesnt have any pics or videos in my phone except just few.

So, At last i decided to boot it in safe mode and let it scan my media. I followed all the steps as in the link. To my amazement it reduced the memory used by pictures,videos(gallery) to 19.32 mb but still at this point of time the free memory is around 260 mb. The free memory did not increased. And i lost all my storage.There is a new .thumbnails folder too but no space increased.

Kindly help me. This problem will persist forever? or is there any solution? and is the phone non-functional now as i cant continue using this phone with so less memory & i cant continue with it. Lastly i cant afford a new phone. All my faith in Sony is lost which i used for the first time and maybe the last. Never had any problem like this with Moto, Nokia Lumia, Samsung & Micromax which my family members are using.

try this

1. delete the ".thumbnails" folder in the "DCIM" folder

2. after deleting, create a new file and name it ".thumbnails". (Create a new "file" not a "folder")

But which file is to be created?  Means, We only get the option to create a folder. Could you advise how to create a file ? Or are you talking about any specific kind of file to be created ? I am not able to create a file.

i just saw your help reply to someone regarding the thumbnail thing.

if i delete the things conyained in the thumbnail folder, will everything else get deleted too. 

like i opened them and i see that it has those photos which are stored in my galary. i dont want delete them.

so now i am confused that if i delete anyof them ones from the thumbnail, will i delete my phots from the gallary.
