M4 AQUA Restarting itself and shutting itself down.

I just got the phone on July 6. Within 2 hours of starting it up at the store it had restarted itself. In  72 hours the phone had 58 System Incidents. Went back to the store had the hardware & sim card replaced. Now the new device is doing the samne thing, but worse! Since July 11 till now I have had 99 System Incidents!!! What is the problem?? I tried doing all the resets and PCC, unloading apps & their updates... Still resets every 20mins or less... Sometime it just completly shuts down! 2 Brand new out of the box devices faultly? Or is it a hardware issue.. I called sony support, they claim (as well as my service provider Virgin Mobile) that I am the first person in North America to be having these problems with their new phone!! The chances I got the only 2 defective ones in a row. I think the odds are to small... Can anyone enlighten my situation or offer suggestions?? I waited 4 years to get a new phone... Maybe I should have waited longer

@M4AQUAFLOP

And this is without the SD and nano SIM cards correct?

Yup. No sim card or micro SD. It took less than 20 to reboot lol

I am having the same problem, first one I got from Bell died and wouldn't turn on again. Returned it the next day and got a replacement, now this one keeps restarting itself twice in the middle of phone calls... I don't want to do anything with it in case they won't take it back. And now I came to these forums seeking help and it's looking like a repeat of the M as there were lots of posts about the M having the same issue...

I am also having the same issue with my M4 Aqua from Virgin in the UK.

It did it first within 1 hr of getting it. Switched off, blank screen, buttons had no effect. I rang Virgins support and was told to reset it using the hole under the flap by the sd card. I have been having to do it frequently ever since. Sometimes it loses track of the no of incidents and starts to count them again. Any links to information of what to try would be gratefully recieved( did not know what was meant by ppc) My phone has not so far turned itself off whilst I am using it but does when in my pocket or put down somewhere. It makes it pretty useless as a phone as unless you check it all the time you never know if it is on to recieve calls etc. I have noticed it sometimes does it just as I press the power button to turn the screen off. I hope Sony or anyone, comes up with a solution as apart from this I like it.

Just to add that todayit has gone off about three times and the last time when I started it again it was just like when I initially took it out of the box and I shall have to waste a few hours getting all apps installed again plus not sure what data I have lost.

Not impressed!

When you got your M4 did you have your data transfered over from your old phone?

& Is the phone super hot when it restarts itself?

Hi,

When I got the m4 I had a new nano sim came with it.

The sd card was the one that had been in use on my old phone - perhaps I should start off with a new sd card.

On some occasions I have noticed that the phone was hot, but mostly I have not noticed, although many times I put the phone down and when I pick it up find that it is off.

Since my last post I reinstalled my apps and set up the phones screens how I want them again. Initially I turned off stamina mode to see if that helped but I found it had turned off again after a few hours. I have now switched stamina mode back on.

What seems strange to me is that sometimes upon resetting via the hole next to the sd card the record of the system incidents remains other times it starts again from zero.

I do hope Sony comes up with a solution as it seems to be a quite widespread problem ( I have since posting read through the other threads) and I would be very happy with the phone if it were not for this issue. As it is, it is pretty well useless for recieving calls because unless you checked it every few minutes to ensure that it had not turned itself off you might miss an important call.

I do hope it can be sorted.
