I just got the phone on July 6. Within 2 hours of starting it up at the store it had restarted itself. In 72 hours the phone had 58 System Incidents. Went back to the store had the hardware & sim card replaced. Now the new device is doing the samne thing, but worse! Since July 11 till now I have had 99 System Incidents!!! What is the problem?? I tried doing all the resets and PCC, unloading apps & their updates... Still resets every 20mins or less... Sometime it just completly shuts down! 2 Brand new out of the box devices faultly? Or is it a hardware issue.. I called sony support, they claim (as well as my service provider Virgin Mobile) that I am the first person in North America to be having these problems with their new phone!! The chances I got the only 2 defective ones in a row. I think the odds are to small... Can anyone enlighten my situation or offer suggestions?? I waited 4 years to get a new phone... Maybe I should have waited longer
I called Sony Support Centre and they asked me to do 'Crash Repair' by pressing the start button + Volume Up button together until phone vibrates few times. I had to do it twice. Since then it has been 28 hours and my phone has not done any random reboots. Hopefully, it will stay as it is..
Daily crashes, random reboots, getting stuck at the wave animation with no way to force reboot, constantly running out of memory.
I've factory reset it a few times, tried PC Companion repairs, my only hope is when Sony deign to give us the Android 6 update these issues go away.
Currently stuck at the wave anmation, again. Last time I had to leave it for hours to drain the battery as the power button/volume reset does nothing.

Agreed.
I know I am very disappointed in this phone, problem after problem.
I had to return my first one, and keep having software issues on this one.
I will not be buying any Sony product in the Future.
Hi
There are already some Posts in this Forum from users with the same problem. The problems solved after they got their phones replaced. My Xperia M4 also restarts itself randomly, a well known problem...
I already contacted the german support, but they didn't know from the posts in this Forum, and also didn't repair the Phone after I was sending it in two times (phone in accordance to sony specifications).
Today I will send it in for repair for the third time, this time I put some prints from this forum into the parcel.
Any other German M4 Aqua users with the same Problem here who got their phones repaired?
I am really disapointed, some of my Sony Products at home are twenty years old and as good as new, but this phone really let's me rethink about buying Sony products.
I came to know its mostly due to bad battery , ask support team to change the battery of the device.
The Problem with my phone occured right after I unpacked it. In normal mode the battery lasted for 2 days, in STAMINA over one week.
If your phone shutting itself down, turn on diagnostics in About phone (Settings) -> it'll change status is restarting itself
Can you try solution this ?
Go to settings, click more.. -> before you turn off NFC, turn off android Beam (required), then turn off NFC, try use your phone which not use Wifi, feedback with me if it isn't restarting itself

Hi,
I'm not from Germany but France, have got the exact same problem, will be sending the phone back for the 3rd time tomorrow in less than a month, each time they said the problem had been "fixed", MY A**E!
I have been a fidel customer of Sony for over 10 years, if they don't fix it this time, this will be it!
Also I'm gonna contact the customers departement and demand a refund and/or a new phone otherwise I'll take this further.
Sony is taking the.
When you pay over 260euros for a phone the least it can does is working properly.
My 20yo Nokia 3310 still works....
Good luck to you!
BTW, does Sony support even BOTHERS to read the forums? Or do they expect people experiencing major issues with their phones to sort them out by themselves with the help of fellow sufferers? GOOD JOB SONY!!!
Hi,
I have both Android Beam and NFC turned off, the error occcurs anyway.
Don't think it has anything to do with these, in my case.
Thanks
Sending my phone back, AGAIN, will write that down for the " tech team" to try, will update asa the phone is back to see if the issue has been fixed.
Thanks for the info
