M4 AQUA Restarting itself and shutting itself down.

I just got the phone on July 6. Within 2 hours of starting it up at the store it had restarted itself. In  72 hours the phone had 58 System Incidents. Went back to the store had the hardware & sim card replaced. Now the new device is doing the samne thing, but worse! Since July 11 till now I have had 99 System Incidents!!! What is the problem?? I tried doing all the resets and PCC, unloading apps & their updates... Still resets every 20mins or less... Sometime it just completly shuts down! 2 Brand new out of the box devices faultly? Or is it a hardware issue.. I called sony support, they claim (as well as my service provider Virgin Mobile) that I am the first person in North America to be having these problems with their new phone!! The chances I got the only 2 defective ones in a row. I think the odds are to small... Can anyone enlighten my situation or offer suggestions?? I waited 4 years to get a new phone... Maybe I should have waited longer

Following the system update yesterday, most apps are hanging and my M4 Aqua is restarting.  There is a flash screen appearing after a few seconds 'Android is updating'.  Unable to locate 'diagnostics app' on phone and cannot download from Play Store!

Seems that update was not successful, you need to repair your phone via PC Companion. Backup your data before update, because everything will be erased. After update via PC Companion you can restore back your data.

My m4 was doing this had it sent away & tested by sony, got it back supposed to be ok, within two days it was doing constant restarts & turning itself off too, I noticed when it was doing it it was getting really hot & suffering battery drain too! (no apps were open when this was happening)
Over the course of a couple of days I methodicaly deleted apps or force stopped apps that were preinstalled with the phone, the last app I force stopped was the diognostics since then it has never restarted again, got hot or lost battery charge (over a week now!)
There must be a fault with the diognostic software think its constantly running diognostics which is causing high temps which inturn makes the phone shut down & reboot plus over drain the battery ..........oh the irony!

I had same issue. Tried everything to no avail
Sent the phone to Sony for repair, they returned it to say it was fixed, but it wasn't
So then I used screen shots from system incidents to prove it
Sent again for repair and after an argument by email and phone with supervisor at repair centre I got different phone

I called Sony Support Centre and they asked me to do 'Crash Repair' by pressing the start button + Volume Up button together until phone vibrates few times. I had to do it twice. Since then it has been 28 hours and my phone has not done any random reboots. Hopefully, it will stay as it is..

no, it is not ok... it is still doing random reboots. I am just waiting for the day when it will die so that I can buy another phone.. Never sony again

My Xperia M4 is also randomly restarting itself while the phone is in sleep mode (screen off, locked). I sure hope this is a software problem that will be fixed in Android 6.0 update.
