No Active Clip/Screenshot on M4 Aqua

Hi, I got a new M4 Aqua this week & can't take screenshots. When I hold the power button I do get the "+ take screenshot" option, but after I click it it tells me it's failed because the content is protected or the memory is full. I've read that I should have am Active Clip small app but I don't, I only have browser, clock, timer, calculatotr and touch block.

Any ideas how to fix this?

To take a screenshot you press and hold power & volume down at the same time for 1 second.

No that doesn't work. It looks like it should (as does just holding down the power button & clicking on "+ take screenshot") - it does that little flash and the screenshot is shown slightly smaller inside the screen. But it then brings up the error message "couldn't capture screenshot contents may be protected or memory may be full."

How to boot on safe mode on Lolipop
1. press and hold the power key
2. once you get the pop up menu 
3. press and hold "power off" 
4. Boot on safe mode should become available
