Aliasnotneeded, just a reminder. Using the Album application will generate again the thumbnails which are safe to be deleted. You don't need to format the card next time. Using a file explorer, from time to time, go in the hidden folder .thumbnails and delete all the picture you see there.
Again, as a reminder... the thumbnails will be regenerated again and if you delete them the Album app will be slow during the recreation process.
The pictures and/or videos will be saved twice if you share them through an app, such as whatsapp, could you elaborate more on your issue.
Hi there...
So, when you say that you have to go through everything.. JPG and DSC... do you mean that you have 2 different files in your computer or that in both SD card and Computer you get also the DSC? Are you using some Nikon's app in your phone or computer?DSC is not really a picture BUT a file with few infos from Nikon's cameras or applications
Now I finally understand it, no Nikon app involved.
The two files are:
Thumbnail (example: 23718371893.jpg)
Photo (example: dsc_123.jpg)
You can safely delete everything that is not dsc_*.jpg - the numeric file is just a low resolution thumbnail. Beware if you delete them from your computer you are safe, if you delete them from your phone it will be just temporary because the Album application will start generating them back as soon as you use the Album app. Also, if you delete the thumbnails your album app will be initially slow as it will start regenerate the thumbnails.
Just for the records, thumbnails are just small resolution previews of your full resolution photos.
