Since the latest upgrade, when I get a second reply to a text there's no notification sound. i.e. I initiate a text and when I get a reply there's a sound notification. I reply to that, but when another reply comes in, there's no sound, so unless I check every five minutes I don't see it.

Okay, the first thing that came to my mind was if you still were located inside the conversation when you received the reply. Then you will not have any notification about this message.
Have you tried to clear data for the messsaging application? This can be done via Settings > Apps > The tab "All" > Messaging > Clear data.
Hi,
I'm not quite sure what you mean. You open a conversation and send a text message > When you get a reply, there are a notification sound? But when you send a new text message and get a reply, there are no notification sound? When there are no notification sound, are you doing something special with the phone? Using an app for example or are you located in the conversation?
Thank you for your reply. This is what happens :-
I send you a text and you reply. When that reply comes through I get a sound to let me know.
I then reply to your reply and you reply to that, but there's no sound when that (or any other replies on the same thread) comes through.
e.g.
Me..... hello are you OK
You .. yes Thank you. Are you ? (accompanied by a sound to let me know you've replied)
Me.... Good. How are the family ?
You . .they're fine (no sound to tell me this message has come through)
Prior to the last upgrade everything was fine. Got a sound notification every time a message came in whether it was the first or fifth response.
And no..... not normally doing / using anything else which might interfere.
