Really sorry to hear this, as a step can you please attempt a Diagnostics test to see if the issue shows up.
Menu > Settings > About Phone > Diagnostics > tests > TouchScreen.

Sorry for the late reply, in this case, you could attempt a software repair on the device to see if this helps resolve this issue.

However, if this issue continues, then you may need to get the handset into a service agent as stated above.
