Updated to Marshmallow cant read sim

Oki this is strange.

I have cuted sim, with right tool

This worked fine, until now

I updated to Marshmallow, it was no problem for 4 houers.

Then i noticed while charging it had warning no sim.

I can now not get it to read the sim card. Even tok out card, tok of charging. waited to se if it cools down. but phone was not particulary hot either.

stil does not read sim card.

Put the sim card in my Nokia, woila reads imidatly. nada problems.

Tho that Nokia beats Android on almost all counts anywhy, but ont like that a phone regardless cheap phonme does not work

And ofc, there is almost no fun app's and games to old Nokia...   ofc ecept that you can use it as batt without damaging it.

But stil, any one xperienced similar, not reading card after update?

Gona order new sim card, propper one so i not need to cut. But takes few days. and annoying when it is only this phone it not work on.

@Tjukken

Get a brand new SIM card, and make sure that it's the correct size, don't cut/trim it.

I have ordered it

But thinking strange it works on other phone, and worked before.

But acctully of all people my brother had a reason for this.

Now he have a Samsung, but he found somwhere that some of the old sim cards.

The old ones with the big gold connection part. Have problems with the new android Marshmallow.

He not sure why, but new phones is not designed to use those old sim cards.

So it makes sense

And ofc the Nokia that the sim works on, is old phone. designed for those old sim cards. And ofc the old markings on the sim card is from this old phone...

So my conclution it has nothing to do with Sony VS Nokia. Its simply to old sim card.

Oh by the way, thank you for quick responce

Well, Uliwooly actually may have a point here. Cutting a Sim card is still a risk as if also slightly out of center the chip can be at fault and not working. The fact that it works on a Nokia it's not synonymous of problem in the Xperia. It can be just that the Nokia Sim slot is tighter than the Xperia one and this cannot be define a fault in Sony design but mostly imputable to a hack to use a regular sized Sim in a device that require different sized Sim cards.

I know  Winking_Face

Also since the sim card has marks from the old nokia. That marks it self can help making bad connection on other phones than the phone who made the markings.

I was just not thinking about that first.

I will update here when the new sim arrives. But i do assume it will work, they sending this multi sim card that supposed to work on all types.

I'am  having the same issue right now and the SIM card is not cut, talking to the rep. he says that i need to do a software repair with Xperia Companion and if it doesnt work, take it to the tech support.

Brand new simcard arrived to day and it worked imidetly...

Wel i had to go online and acctivate the card but....

So the problem for me was the simcard.

If you can i would try new simcard first.

Even if its not cut, it might have a foult on it.

Atleast, i would try that before i send away the phone.
