WiFi and mobile data

I just got a new m4 aqua and can't find the answer to this anywhere. Can you please confirm that when the phone is connected to wifi, it is automatically not using mobile data? Or do I have to keep switching mobile data off each time?
Thanks

Hi,

This is nothing that you can choose/setup in the phone. The phone will automatically choose Wi-Fi connection (if available and a saved network) instead of the mobile data. As long as you are in reach of the Wi-Fi network that is saved, your phone should prefer this connection.

The device should use the strongest and fastest connection. I have noticed sometimes both are active.

Thanks for a quick answer. Is there any way to set it to default prefer the wifi, without having to switch off mobile data every time? My old phone just connected to wifi and that was it until I switched it off myself; only then would the mobile connection kick in.

I don't think you can choose which one steps in and when, but maybe @Hampus knows more.

Really?

There are "free" Wifi networks -in reality the "free" bit is the initial login page, that invite you to make a purchase of time or data. Or other free networks whose speed is so slow that I'd prefer to use my data plan.

And the phone prefers these rather than the carrier data plan? Is there no way to change that?

I wouldn't mind a notification of availability of a free wifi network but not the default change of settings!
