Every time I try to load a webpage, it says "DNS server unavailable". I am connected to my wireless router but have no internet access. Other PCs in the household that connect to this router wirelessly are working perfectly. Why can't my laptop connect?
Are you getting IP and DNS server from DHCP?
Start -> run -> cmd
ipconfig /all
you should see somewhing like this
if not then go to Network and sharing center
Change adapter setting
Choose wireless network connection
right click and go to Properties
choose internet protocol version 4 na click properties
make sure that you have choosed Obtaine IP Address automatically
I hope this help you.
Hi, Great reply, I have had this problem also. Worked out I could get my Vaio working wireless again by reseting the 'obtain IP address automaticly' in the Adapter settings. But it has a habbit of loosing this setting and you have to select it all over again. Often when the laptop has been in sleep mode. Does anyone have any idea how to stop this setting moving from the 'obtain automaticly' tab? Thanks, Martin
First try flushing DNS by using this command in command prompt: ipconfig /flushdns
if it doesn't work then reset your internet router. Also, you can use google's public dns servers, see this guide to do that. And here are some geeky tips to resolve the issue: http://www.pingzic.com/dns-server-unavailable/.
