I need some help getting better quality from my sky box!: just a had a new dish and cabling put in today and reverted back to the sky hdmi cable as the ethernet ones cause picture issues so i've been told and saw some improvement however, im just looking at the sport channels and i can see the picture isnt as crisp as it should be. I've been advised to turn to this network for some fine tuning
Hi @nathan0403
To help us, the starting point for any request for help is the full model number of your TV, it will start with KD or XR. There are many TV models under the umbrella of Sony Bravia and they are all different.
Also it may help if you let us know which Sky system are you using, Sky+HD, Sky Q or Sky Stream (you mentioned Dish).
Hi, its an XR65a84ku and currently running Sky Q
I’ve never heard of getting the picture over Ethernet from a Sky box to a TV.
Linking a Q Minibox to the main Sky Q box, sure; but not to a TV
Can you give us a link to where this is described?
Are other Sky channels as crisp as they should be?
Do other devices, such as a BluRay player with a recent disc, give a nice crisp picture on the TV?
Can you post screenshots of the issue?
It may be that it is Sky you need to talk to, not Sony.
Hi @nathan0403
What have you set your picture resolution to on your Sky Q box? I have mine set to 2160p 10 bit and get excellent picture quality, especially with HDR.
It may also help, if you let us know which model Sky Q box you have. Home -> Settings -> System info -> Hardware version.
@royabrown2 you may be right regarding Sky.
Just to let you know I had a similar problem with Virgin TV.
My picture quality deteriorated after they fitted another box in another room.
I complained so they sent an area manager out to check the picture on my Bravia.
I asked him was his picture worse / better with Virgin to which he replied "I have Sky TV." 😮
He called an engineer out to check the signal strength and I was told it was excellent. I was then told by him
"It must be your TV." I proved the 2022 Bravia was clearly capable of displaying a high quality picture.
I was then told all they could do was swap boxes which didn't work.
No further help was offered.
Hi, Mine is a 32c009 box and max i can set to is 1080 only. Do i need an upgraded box? the picture isnt far off however, I record the F1 and when I come to watch it recorded, the picture quality isnt the best. My local engineer just fitted a new dish and cabling for me and its slightly improved.
Thanks for the help
Sky Engineer mentions you need to use the sky cable only?
Some channels are good but, its mainly sky sports and movies I see the distortion and looks to be a pixelation issue in my view. but, im not qualified and just a presumption.
I dont watch bluray and just use the sky box now
I cant take a picture clear enough to show it im afraid. its not drastic but, I want it perfect on the new tv because it bugs me as i know its there.
Hi @nathan0403
You have a super TV but you are watching from the lowest quality box that Sky provide. Knowing Sky they will probably want you to pay a £50 admin fee to upgrade to an UHD box. You will of course need a UHD subscription. F1 in UHD HDR is stunning!
Any high speed HDMI cable under 3m in length will do. You don’t have to use the supplied lead.

Yes, playing a 1080 box on a 4K TV wouldn't get you an amazing picture!
You can test it by playing a 4K video on YouTube ''using the built in TV app''.
Also, try to adjust the picture settings based on what you really like using this guide: https://cutt.ly/Ywqs797u.
