Side Buttons !

Hello.

Have a question : who do we have to thank for changing the side buttons function?

Befor the last update, the side buttons were used to increase and decrease the ringtone volume levels. For some reason (that i just cannot understand ) it's changed now to "volum media". Sounds ok, but it's not. Why would you put "media volum" on the fron screen, when nothing is played.It's like usins freakin' socks whit slippers. Second, dont have the option to , separatly, set the notification and the ringtone volume. If i think back,i had that option on my first rotary phone after the firs world war :|.

I was using HTC for the last 10 years but i wanted to try out Sony. No comment 😐

Dont expect to get any answers or any resolution, for that matter, just wannted to get it out ff my chest. Sorry for the tone or attitude.

Hi @Easy_T, welcome to our community and I'm sorry for the late reply.

This change was introduced by Google in Android Pie and the media volume will be adjusted when using the volume buttons, even if you are currently not playing any media sound.

If I'm not mistaken, there are some apps in the Google Play store that changes the behaviour back to how it used to be, so you can have a look in there and see if you find any that you like.

In Xperia devices, the ring tone and notification volume has always been on the same slider, at least for the past 4½ years.

I understand it doens't change much, but at least you know why it is the way it is!
