Sony Xperia XA Ultra has Mediatek MT6755 Helio P10 processor which supports Volte feature. I bought this mobile for around 29k in India in October 2017. There are many other mobile brands which manufactured few 4G handsets even before the concept of Volte was in talk. These mobiles have less hardware capabilities than Xperia XA Ultra. Even then, they got the VoLte Update after few months itself. These mobiles cost you just below 15k.
When I call the customer care executives, they say the mobile hardware itself doesn't support the VoLte update even if the device has all the hardware requirements for the VoLte feature.
It is wierd that the whitepapers of xperia xa and xa ultra say that the devices support Volte. In UK Xperia xa supports VoLte, but not in India and other countries.
Sony is just trying to make its customers fools and they just don't want to spend and work on providing the VoLte support to these devices. Xperia XA Ultra was just launched in last quarter of 2016 and is not capable of getting the Volte update!!
Sony is just being silly and foolish saying that the mobile's hardware itself doesn't support the VoLte feature. I have registered complaints several times regarding this issue but, all the times there was a mail stating that they can't help any more and VoLte will not be provided even if the device has all the hardware requirements for the VoLte feature.
Let us all try to highlight this issue till it reaches the higher authorities and development team.
