I have two issues I would like to get some feedback on:
1) When I just bought my Xperia Z, there were no connectivity issues and everything worked just as it should have. After the first update, the phone started to have trouble with connecting to mobile network data services (GPRS/EDGE/3G/HSPA), despite the fact that the signal was strong and there is a mobile data service in the area. To correct this issue, I have to turn my WiFi and mobile data off and then turn the mobile data back right on. Mobile data is then magically appears and works without a problem. Also, if I do not turn the WiFi off, this trick doesn't seem to work. Once again, this issue appeared only after the first update. The second update didn't fix it, as I was hoping.
2) "Location based Wi-Fi" feature seems to connect to WiFi only when I turn on phone's display. Before I do that, the phone seems to stay on a mobile network data connection, no matter how long I have a working WiFi available in the area. Combined with a the first bug I've described, this often puts me to a state with no connection at all without me even knowing it.
Those two bugs are really frustrating and annoying, making me considering changing the phone.
Please advise on how to fix those issues or would there be a fix in the next update?

Yes, it does seem like piece of crap. Meanwhile, turning Location-based Wi-Fi did make the thing a bit better. Didn't solve the problem, but at least it works sometimes.
Sony still didn't reply me abotu the issue.
Maybe it's time to check out the HTC One
BTW, I've finally got a reply from Sony regarding the bug. The instructions at about the following:
1) Try switching between WCDMA/GSM
2) Rescan your mobile operators
3) Change SIM card, see how does the strength of the signal goes
4) Factory Reset your phone
5) Reflash your phone with latest update with the Sony Ericsson PC Companion application
6) Do a regular update through the phone (wow, after all the resetting and destructions of my data, I might finally try the regular update)
7) Visit Sony Mobile Service Centers
I take it all as a standard help-90%-of-the-customers-copy-paste answer. Obviously they didn't pay much attention to my story.
Well, let's just hope that it went to their bug list and maybe, in an update or two, they will finally fix it.
Meanwhile, with the Location based WiFi option being turned off, my phone seems to hold up pretty good. Also, the switching between WCDMA/GSM might help.
My phone has shown a new "feature" today: Additionally I can't do a simple phone call until I "reset" the mobile data connection. wtf, I am beginning to hate the device.
Actually, the only way to eleminate the issue, is to completely turn off wifi, because it affects the base functionality of the phone...
I'm really thinking about switching to HTC...
Could you please send me your details in a PM, and I will forward this.

Dear Johan,
Could you also help all of our connectivity problem?
My device is getting worse these days. The data connection keeps on and off, no matter I turn on/off the WiFi, GPS or flight mode, it just doesn't help…… thanks!
Seriuosly.. i am fed up with this issue... everytime I want to switch on my data (2G/3G), it never gets activated at the first attempt.. I need to goto settings-> network type and change between GSM and WCDMA again and again if that also doesnt work, I need to restart the phone..
What the heck is this? did I spent my around 40K bucks for this $hit? I am seriously thinking about selling this phone now!!
Hey guys! I have a new Xperia Z now. After reporting the issue to my mobile service provider they gave me a new one. In fact the mobile connectivity issue does not occure any more. In the first step I tried to run the phone with the old firmware. But then your are NOT ABLE TO RESTORE YOUR PHONE with your earlier saved backup file. So I had to update to .253, what does not mean that your backup works better then. But thats another story.
Thanks for the update. Mine too, almost doesn't have the issue anymore. I find myself very seldom turning off/on the mobile connectivity option on my phone. But I didn't switch it ot a new one, I just turned of Location-based WiFi. I believe it is a building up bug, that occurs over time under some specific conditions, including the properties of the tower/operator you are connected too. That's why it is so hard to pin point the bug and fix it.
See if after some time that bug will occur on your new phone. If so, please, let us know. If not, well, let us know anyways and we'll celebrate
After about a month of phone usage with the Location-based WiFi OFF, the issue seems to be dissolved over time and the phone connects to the mobile data networks ithout noticable issues. No soft resets, no hard resets, no SIM changes, no software updates. I hope Sony software development team will draw the right conlusions, if they care about their clients.
I bought Xperia Z phone two days ago and spent all time trying every possible solution suggested on all forums to make my phone connect to my home wifi. It connected when I first turned it on. But as soon as I turned on the Stamina Mode, it stopped recognizing my wifi connection. Since then, I have tried everything up to restoring the phone to factory settings, updating the software, everything... the phone still does not connect to my wifi after that first time. It just gives me 'authentication problem' but it connected before!!! So now I don't want this phone... can I return it to Sony?? Or am I stuck with it? Because I'm done, there is only so much time I can spent on this problem. Very disappointing of Sony. I bought the phone without thinking twice about checking reviews because it's Sony. Never again.
