2015 Bravia Android TV Issues

I thought I'd create a generic thread to cover off the issues being encountered on the 2015 Bravia Android TVs. I've listed my issues below with fixes / workarounds and responses from support. All comments and solutions welcome!

1) Hot Swap HDMI doesn't work - manifested by no input on HDMI channels 2, 3 and 4 on the KD-49X8305C. Workaround - reset the TV, either by holding down the remote power button for 5 seconds or by switching the TV off at the wall and then back on again. 2) HDD Recording doesn't work - error message states a system update is required but none is available when checking. Hopefully this will be fixed soon by a firmware update.

3) Netflix App doesn't work - this seems like the app has been deliberately disabled. So far a support case has only recommended that a factory reset be performed (took two days to get to that cracking piece of advice.....), with no improvement as a result. 4) Sound lag and performance issues after the TV (KD-49X8305C) has been on standby for a while - manifested for me as stuttering and sound / picture sync issues in all apps (youtube, amazon instant video etc) and HDMI sources (PS4, seperate YouView box etc). Hopefully this will be fixed in a firmware update, at the moment workarounds involve either changing channels to get the sync to work or in my case having to turn the TV off and then on again at the socket.

As stated previously, all comments welcome. Personally I'm willing to give Sony a couple of weeks to fix this, but if it's not done soon I'll be sending my new TV back for a refund as it's not really fit for purpose.

Good question, I'm not an expert but a little googling suggests picture in picture is a main picture covering the whole screen and a small one overlaid on top of the main one (normally near a corner). Picture AND Picture is two pictures on the same screen split down the middle. Not found or used it so will defer to any experts who can comment from better experience.

I hope you guys get the updates & service you deserve from Sony soon and the situation can be recovered. I've always bought Sony TV's but based on what I've read & after an umimpressive play in store, I've just bought a Panny (& am very happy with it). These sets were released way too early. I won't be a full price beta tester.

My w855c has developed a glitch! Whenever I use the fast forward function on my TiVo box and then press play, the TV speakers make a loud cracking noise! Does anyone else have this issue?

How about this for an embarrassing glitch. If I'm watching DTV (matter what channel) and I hit the TV/Radio button it switches to the radio. But then if I hit the TV/Radio button again it switches back to DTV but always switches back to AdultXXX channel.

Have just taken ownership of a KD-55X8509C and have been trying to install the new firmware, with no success. When I download over the air it fails at 81% with an error code 2123. When I try installing via a USB stick when the firmware transfer gets to 81% it also fails, but this time causes the TV to reboot!!! Could this be a problem with memory within the TV, failing when a certain size file has been downloaded? Any suggestions I can try would be greatly appreciated, need to get Amazon, Netflix and the sound sync issues sorted...

Have you filled up the internal storage perhaps?

The TV is has plenty memory available as it is literally just out the box. Did a factory reset and now the firmware download fails instantly when being done over wifi and when using a USB stick the TV reboots within a few seconds of the stick being inserted.

Just updated my TV, now I can't switch between sources, yay! The joys of this TV, will sony get anything right?? Well credit where credit is due! The new batman game looks pretty sweet on it.
