** SOLVED ** 55W805C connections WD My Passport hdd

Hi there,

Im trying to connect my external usb 2TB WD My Passport HDD 512dEu8aY5L._SY355_.jpg

with my Bravia 55w805c but the TV does not regognize it at all.

The hdd have NTFS format to support big files.

I cannot imaging that sony does not support this kind of HDD!!!!

I have connect it to all avaible usb ports but the tv refuse to "see" it.

Must i do something else?

Have i do anything wrong?

Thank you for your reply

DO NOT USE USB CABLE Extension !!!

With direct connection with WD cable to USB port the HDD works JUST PERFECT via KODI !!!!

I'm fairly sure that NTFS is not supported and the drive should be formatted with exFAT or FAT in order to be recognised by the TV.

Updated!

I'm wrong apparently as this documents says NTFS is supported: http://helpguide.sony.net/tv/caep1/v1/en/contents/TP0000543632.html

Hey there stonecityboys, Cable extenders often cause problems especially if they are a bit longer. It is recommended to test the drive wit hits original cable whenever you are experiencing connectivity problems before proceeding with other troubleshooting steps. I'm glad you've figured it out. This article should be useful if you'd like more info on cable lengths and how they matter: http://www.yourcablestore.com/USB-Cable-Length-Limitations-And-How-To-Break-Them_ep_42-1.html Cheers and feel free to ask if you happen to have questions  Captain_WD.
