Hi, I just bought the above phone. I have tried everything possible to get it to pair with my handsfree. I haven't had this issue before, EVER! Any ideas as to what I can try?? I really don't want to buy another handsfree in case the same thing happens. I have a Samsung handsfree.
Solved! Go to Solution.
I suspect the issue is that the handsfree is not in pairing mode.
Generally, a new bluetooth handsfree goes into pairing mode automatically the first time you start it. If you then want to add it in another phone you need to set it to pairing mode manually.
But in case your handsfree is in pairing mode and yourM4 Aqua can't find it i recommend that you, if possible, try searching for the handsfree from another phone that has not been paired with it to see where the problem might be.
My new Xperia M4 Aqua 5.0 Lollipop won't pair with neither an older handsfree in my car (6 years), nor a newer in my wife's car (3 years).
My older Xperia, E4g, 4.4 Kitkat, My iPhone 5 and my HTC Evo 3D (4.0) all pair with both car's hands free systems.
So, it's obvious that the problem is either with M4 Aqua hw or sw. Restarting, clearing cache and all other tricks don't help.
There is a difference on what happens - on older BT handsfree it wont connect at all. On newer it conects, but later it won't automatically connect, reports Autentication failure, or wrong PIN.
Since I got M4 Aqua initialy with 5.0, I do not know if iot is possible to replace that with 4.4, probably not or iti is to complicated.
If I jaibreak my phone it will void my warranty.
And before anybody asks, yes, I have the lates version of android available to me: 5.0 Build version 26.1.A.2.147. Phone says it up to date!
I recently bought two M4 Aquas for my son and for my wife. neither will connect via bluetooth to a loudspeaker. Really annoying. Of course we have both set updated to latest version and tried rebooting and turning on/off for bluetooth. They simply cannot see any other bt-device. Did any one solve this problem or can anyone give advice how to?
I'm an owner of a SonyXperia m4 aqua. After I made a firmware/android upgrate from 5.0 to 6.0.1 start having serious conversation problems via car bluetooth handfree. I can pair the devices but the person I'm calling can not recognise anything of our convesation. Very bad connection!
I'm also having a bluetooth connectivity issue after upgrading on Wednesday. My phone does connect to the car's multimedia unit but almost immediately disconnects. I'll try the noise suppression switch as you suggest and see what happens. Thanks.
PS tried that solution and it did not work. Problem still there. Does anyone know if you can revert a phone to the previous Android release?
An update on my post above. VirginMedia suggested a factory reset to restore it to the previous Android release - it didn't, it kept it on 6.0.1. Sony Tech Support UK told me to use the "Repair" tool in their XperiaCompanion application on my PC - didn't work either. Are the blind leading the blind on this ? Neither the mobile phone supplier's nor the manufacturer's tech support people appear to have a clue and about 4 hours of my time wasted !!
Can anyone on here recommend a decent reasonably priced smartphone (emphatically NOT a Sony) which will relaibly connect with Bluetooth handsfree in my car?
I had the same bluetooth problem with my M4 aqua after the Android 6.0 update. I.e. the handsfree microphone connection to my car didn't seem to work. First, I tried to remove and pair again the bluetooth connection to the car, but that didn't help at least in my case. However, as I disabled the microphone noise suppression and speaker voice enhancement features from call settings that seemed to do the trick and at least currently the handsfree is working as it should be. Please try this trick and hopefully it works for others too.
