M5 with battery lock problem and cracked screen = NO WARRANTY !!!

This is just to express my dissapointment

I have bought a M5 which had the signal issue since day 1.

Every so often i need to plug it in to unlock it.

Unfortunately my screen got cracked the other day, nothing serious, it still works perfectly.

But SONY service point will not fix the factory problem without making me pay for the screen.

I do not deny the screen is my fault but SONY should fix the error the phone had when i bought it.

Just my two cents...

I'm sorry to hear about your issue but this is a user based forum and IFF you have an issue since day 1, how come you didn't contacted Sony since day 1?

Hi @schumifer1,

Welcome to the community.

I understand that this is frustrating but you must understand, in order to get to the battery of your phone, they will need to remove the screen as this is a sealed handset. In the process of removing the screen, it is going to be damaged even further due to the cracks. They will not be able to replace the broken screen into your handset.

In order to repair your device up to a warrantable and working standard, the screen will need to be replaced too.

Hello and thanks for your answer.

Are you working inside SONY? Because this is exactly the answer SONY gave me.

Can you PLEASE explain to me in exactly which step of the battery replacement you touch the screen?

The answer is nowhere.

This is just a excuse to avoid fixing the original error.

And there is no excuse for selling a DEFECT phone for 350 euro and then denying repair.

Keep in mind that this is a user based forum, whenever you apply heat to lose the double sided adhesive and apply pressure to remove the back panel the front panel can crack, I've seen this happening while repairing an Xperia myself.

@schumifer1,

The key point in my statement is here:

"In order to repair your device up to a warrantable and working standard, the screen will need to be replaced too."

Physical damage voids your warranty in most cases.

I practically know i don't stand a chance, i just wanted to vent a litle maybe because it is unfair.

It is as if you bought a brand new expensive car with defective gaspedal, sometimes it works, othertimes not.

You get in an accident and break your windscreen.

All of a sudden you have no warranty and although the carmaker is repairing all cars for free, it gets away in my case on a technicallity which DID NOT CAUSE the issue

Oh well

PS to answer the first question.

You obviously haven't had the problem. I went some months without having a decent phone, updating, factory-resetting and such, before i read in the internet about sony's manufacturing issue. Then before i could get it to service my screen broke...

@schumifer1,

You can't really compare a car to a phone in such a way. It's closer to having a TV with a broken screen that also won't turn on. The broken screen on your TV will void your warranty too.

I understand it is frustrating and I do apologise for the inconvenience this has caused you.
