MXTP created problems for me.

MXTP created problems for me.

I recently bought me the xperia M4 aqua dual and configured the Myxperia service on the device. After day 3 I restarted the M4.

As the M4 was started up the MXTP gave me the lockdown screen with the verify, wifi settings and emergency call options on it. So as I wanted to unlock my device i pressed the verify button and a log in screen for my google account appears. I use my google account on all kinds of different devices so I logged in. But here someting goes wrong.

When I typed in the username and password to verify it is my M4 it gave me a loading icon for 2 seconds and then it says "incorrect username and/or password" and my M4 stays locked. To double check if my password and username are correct i logged in to another adroid device and my laptop with no problems. So now I'm stuck with a brand new non working xperia M4 and my hope for a good working security system is all lost.

Thanks Sony.

You could try the workaround I posted earlier. if it works, at least you won't need to wait for a replacement.

Hi

I am also facing the same authentication problem. I reatrted my phone and as soon as the phone got on the authentication screen came.

I tried login 1000 times with correct username and password but still to able to authenticate it.

What should I do?

Thanks, your solution worked for me on M4 Aqua Dual, E2333 and I'll never activate MyXperia again.

I wonder how can SONY be so "clever" that on a feature like this they rely on thir party software which updates automatically from Google Play. It kind of ruined my happyness from buying a new phone and made me mad because I also use it for working purposes. I see this as a big misconduct on SONYs side.

SOLUTION / EDIT: It seems there IS a way to escape the lock caused by MXTP.

You have probbaly updated all the apps on your phone right after you set it up. It is quite normal to reboot the phone after installing a bunch of software, after all old Windows habits die hard. Unfortunately, It seems that MXTP hates updates.

  1. Open the my Xperia website.
  2. Erase the data on your M4 which is stuck on the "Protected" MXTP screen. You may need to re-login on the websie.
  3. Let the phone reset itself to factory settings.
  4. The MXTP screen pops up again when you run the Xperia initial setup. Enter your google login info here. It SHOULD go through now.
  5. Frantically make sure at least 20 times that MXTP is disabled and curse it to oblivion with torment and pain for eternity.

You should also reboot to make sure it worked. I could also have been lucky, I can't promise it will work for everyone. It's certainly quicker than repairing through PC Companion or other flashing software.

From what I can guess, MXTP does not seem to work with the updated versions of various google services, and will only work properly with the version it was shipped with.@ Services like Android System Webview may also be the culprit here, since MXTP does open a web page internally. Hope this helps @Johan and the rest of the support staff.

OLD POST:

I Bought an M4 and had to get it replaced the next day for a faulty mic. A week later I got my replacement and set it up. Then I just rebooted ONCE and now its stuck on the "Protected" screen because of MXTP. I am certain without a shade of doubt that I have full access to my google account and the information I am entering is correct. The phone can be tracked/ringed on the my Xperia website. It is even running all my applications in the background WITH THE SAME GOOGLE ACCOUNT. This is ridiculous. Preferably, I do not want to get another replacement, please help.

Hi! I too had same problem. MXTP not recognizing mu google password. Tried every possible method. Login through My Xperia didnt locate my phone. Sony Companion reset tool updated software no use. Google Password change no use. Now i am going to submit phone to service centre. Sony is hopeless about providing bug fixes to this major issue

Yesterday I was able to authenticate my google-account, after updating "Sony Lounge".
I was able to start the update during the 15 seconds before the device would actually get into "lockdown".

Nothing found in My Xperia site. No phone detected. I am not able to update anything. But i am very disappointed with Sony. They had known issues in M4 Aqua  still they are not giving replacements or recalled product. This is a bug from their developement team which rely in thirt party API for a security feature which blocks phone completely. Isnt it ridiculous?

Now its 2nd day my phone is at service centre still got no solution & I am still phoneless.

Hi all

I finally managed to get my phone back but not using Sony's website. Only Google mobile management tools let me erase the phone. It took quite a long time to get back to factory settings, but it did work.

Honestly, I will certainly not turn on again the Myxperia security applications. Regarding the last feedbacks, it is definetly not reliable!

Cheers
