maybe the cable you are using. i didn't test this yet, but maybe could be the issue:
some "aux-in" only accepts stereo or mono, or both, im not sure. try using the original sony headphones first. also compare it with your aux cable.
on some cases, if the cable is mono, what i did is not to insert the plug all the way. (see second image) that way, the right channel of the mono will sit correctly on the right channel of the stereo-in.
I've seen this before
settings > apps > all > smartconnect > clear data > restart the phone > check again
no, again, the problem persist. I tried to use another phone, maybe the cable is damaged but with another phone work and with my xperia no....
Odd, it could be a compatibility issue, get a new aux cable and report back.
does headset work?

Yeees thats right. I used a 4 pole headphones (samsung stock headphones) and my 3 pole headphones (a TDK headphones), with a 4 pole headphones i got the same problem that i have with my aux cable. I think that I have to change my aux cable.
Thanks to everyone, you were a great help
