Sloooow zoom in camera

Hello,

I am using the native camera app and in general it seems fine. There is only one annoying issue.

The only way to zoom (that I could find) is by repeatedly moving two finlgers in expanding gestures and this zom is SLOOOOW. If I want to "get" something far and don't have a few minutes for the furious finger-wadding, I have to snap a big photo and hope I can photoshop the relevant part out of it.

Is there a way to fix this in the native cam app? Or should I install another cam app - then which one, and also how do I bind it to the cam button?
