streaming quality in youtube app

When I want to change the quality of a video in youtube app doesn't show me more than a 480p in the menu. When I'm using the browser and flip youtube in desktop mode higher quality choices are available and I can watch videos in 720 and 1080p, but in the app it's still only 480p. Does anyone has an idea what's wrong with that? Thank you for your time!

That's a youtube restriction not Sony.

Today I checked the app on htc phone and the higher quality options was there which made me to ask my question here

On a side note, your phone's display has a resolution of 540 x 960 qHD, which means watching HD 720 or 1080p videos its an overkill.
