Water damage not covered by warranty

I bought new Sony Xperia M5 dual online on ebay.com on 7th Dec'2015. They handset is still under warranty period. Couple of days backs my mobile stopped showing network, from last couple of days when i was returning home from my office, it was raining and i had kept my mobile in my pocket, it was exposed to rain water for not more than couple of mins. when i was reaching my car. Sony claims that their Sony Xperia M5 dual mobile is water proof and can withstand 1.5 mtr water for 30 min. However, the handset gave up by just few drops of rain water here and there for couple of mins. When i went to Sony authorized Service Center at Vashi (Navi Mumbai), they said it is water damage and will not cover under warranty, which was shocking for me, since on one hand they claim that there mobile phone is completely water proof and on other hand they are saying water damage cannot be covered under warranty. At the first place the handset was not supposed to get water damage since its a waterproof handset, this is insane and completely fraud act from Sony company, the reason I preferred buying Sony Xperia M5 over Iphone and Samsung was its feature of being waterproof, but that is just fake claims Sony is making to sell their product. Really disappointed with SONY. Can someone help me to get my handset repaired under warranty, or else I will lose my faith in Sony forever and would never recommend Sony products to any of my family and friends.

I had contacted them, the Sony aiuthroised service center at Vashi (Navi Mumbai) and they are the ones who are saying that it will not be covered under warranty, because it is water damage. How can a water proof handset can get water damage. This is fraud.

@Dhiraj12

If the phone doesn't have any physical damage you can request a vacuum test, this will prove who is at fault, either you have a faulty unit, OR you didn't properly close the cover and/or if there are cracks on the screen, back panel, etc then it won't be waterproof.

Had the z, M5, z5... all died due to water damage. Used to be a sony believer but not anymore. I still have my old Xperia pro running OK (phone just won't die) but looks like phone quality has really gone south for the past years.

Sorry Sony, I am leaving.
