Hello, here are the M5 issues that I faced, all at a glance.
Note for users-
Even when I have stated the following issues, please do not take it as brand down-levelling or any kind of disappointment for 'before & after' purchase situation. Sony phones are really great of its own kind, with features and technology like no other brands.
Note for experts-
Image Enhancement is off.
Using Pre-installed theme.
All my apps are upto date.
Update, Repair, Restart, all things already done whenever it was necessary.
Phone always in Stamina Mode.
No games or fancy network-connecting apps installed.
I often force stop apps after use, like-, maps, officesuite, Gmail, youtube, Albums, camera, All the fancy camera plugins, video, xperia lounge, whats new, Sketch, movie maker(disabled), Chrome(disabled), Play movies(disabled), news stand (disabled). podcast(disabled).
NFC & Location is always off.
And most important is I didnt use any 3G 4G data network yet. Its disabled. Never use while travelling anyway, or turn off after use. So the following issues occur even when the background processing is the totally minimum-
1) The battery drain issue as all users are facing-
Yes I contacted the Sony Support center, even had chat support sessions. Great service.
I got all those textbook instructions.
Sony says, "Charge your mobile as offen to activate its actual capacity". (this is the only line I found useful, and I hope it is so). I am still waiting for it to unleash its original power.
2) But, here is another Battery issue that everyone is facing, but overlooked-
The battery percentage number is cheating. Many times it has happened that I restart my phone the battery percentage drops to remarkable levels. for the latest Example- I restarted my phone while the battery was 53% and after restart it was 12%.
Even when in standby, using the phone after 3 or 4 hours there is hardly one percent drop in battery. But after doing a normal usage activity i.e. a 1 minute phone call and one SMS, I see immediate 5 to 7% drop in battery.
This happens even after doing update and repair setup. Please include the proper caliberation at your next update.
3) Heating-
The phone heats up even when I am using the Settings menu, File explorer. Using Photo Album, camera and effects, sketch, movie maker heats it remarkably more. But I understand what Sony said - The phone heat is more noticable because of the slim body. The machine is very close to the outer shell. But its still more as compared to other models.
4) Phone Turn off-
Many users are facing phone shut down all the time, which can only be started by plugging in the charging cable. I didnt face this problem. For a few weeks after I bought the phone I didnt take the phone out with me. And never had this restarating issue. But when I took the phone with me to another city, it started heating up by itself as if I placed it in the direct sunlight. Then it shut down in the middle of the day. But happened only once. I believe it is the issue related to SIM card reading, network zone shifting(while travel).
I know you are studying customers, please include a fix.
5) Apps crash and Issues-
(Note- I am doing the phone restart whenever needed).
a) The system apps like Xperia lounge, Google play, Whats new, and some other apps crash a few times while using. Contacts, Phone Book gives Stopped Working error time to time.
b) The File Commander- All the file transfer issues from memory to memory are due to FK. File Comander hands many times during file transfer. I installed FX file explorer and tried to transfer large file from Memory card to Internal memory. It copies within seconds like throwing a football.
6) Screen Brightness-
The screen brightness needs one or two more steps dimmer. The current minimum is still too bright while using at night.
7) Camera- The imaging is exceptional and beautiful, even better than some actual compact cameras. But-
1)Fastest focusing in the world, it is. but spoilled due to shutter lag & write lag. Tried setting it on Internal memory as well as external memory(higher grade class10 with speed 80/s), still same.
2)The three dot menu lag. Camera almost restarts sometimes while opening the 3dot menu.
3)The EV(exposure value) range is too less. Please increase it to atleast -3/+3 , or if possible -5/+5 will be even better.
4)The Image Stabelizer works only in Auto ISO. It turns off by itself while using custom ISO. Also turns off while using HDR.
5) The settings like Focus, Stabelizer, Metering doesnt get saved(they reset back) sometimes.
6) Later on I found out that with the Image Stabelizer turned off, the camera Focuses, takes photo, writes in memory much faster than Samsung S6 edge plus camera. With the Image Stabelizer on, it does the serious lag as I mentioned above.
Please improve.
😎 Music- Music player is the best of all the SE and Xperia phones that I have used previously. (Sound quality of other brands are out of question). But-
1)The sound effects turn of by themselves. The original sound reappears when I re-select the headphone type. I have to do it many times.
2)Please introduce the setting to choose for List view, Thumbnail view & Tile view, for Songs, Albums, Folders menus.
3)The Clear Audio is totally useless. It reduces volume remarkably and removes all effects.
9) USB-
Needs support for many types of USB devices available in market.
When using the phone while it is connected to computer, especially the recent used apps menu, or home button, the phone acts weird. Random touches, or options or apps are selected or run by themselves.
10) System-
System is using almost more than 1.05gb of RAM. (no downloaded or users apps running in background). Please fix.
