i switched from ios to android just last week. i noticed one thing that irritates me a lot. pop up ads. it literally pop ups everywhere with no apps open even at lockscreen. how can i remove this? i already turned off ads personalization i. google settings
Solved! Go to Solution.
The ads definitely come from a third party app. For me it was Instagram, the only way to figure out which one is to uninstall them 1 by 1 until the ads stop. Then re install the safe apps. Painful but it works. Hope that helps.
Hi @Rainbowwitch, welcome to our forum!
It's a bit tricky to know exactly which application the ads are coming from, but if you have downloaded free games or apps that are supposed to be good for the performance by cleaning up files (which doesn't help anything). These applications are in most cases free and the way that the developer is earning money is through ads.
Go through your application list (Settings > Apps & notifications > App info) and see if you have these kind of applications installed or if you find any other applications that you are not really sure what they are.
Keep me posted!
Hi @Bunyipbait, I agree with you. It's pretty boring and time consuming to figure out which application is the cause of the ads, however it's a lot better than having to for example, reset the device.
Have a nice weekend!
When ever I open my camera it only shows the red spot to make vidio and not pictures. How can I fix this problem
clear the app data
settings > apps > all apps > camera > storage > clear data > restart the phone
Hi @gst2, sorry to hear about this.
As @uliwooly mentioned, clearing the data for the application will hopefully fix this, as the camera seems to be working properly and for examples, does not just show a black screen.
You can also test the camera functionality in the Support application that is available in Settings > Support > Xperia tests > Camera.
Let us know if you are able to take photos with your camera again after clearing data for the application!
It is an app. I had the same problem on my xperia
Hi @katiecar, yeah in most cases it's an application causing this and since the ads are not shown as notifications, it's not always easy to find out which application it is.
So called adware, displaying unwanted pop-up ads, is most common among flashlight, battery, charging optimisation apps or if you have an open tab in a web browser.
I hope that you were able to narrow it down to which application it was!
hello someone can help me , i have a lot op pup ad. on lock screen, as i checked is ad choice.
Your add is showing because of third party app like app lock etc. If you want to use that app without add then when the add is showing click on recent app and check which app is showing add and then download no root firewall from playstore. And disable internet access. Now you can use that app without add.
Hi @jelu, welcome to our community!
As @Ayush_Bharti wrote, ads on the lock screen is due to a downloaded application in your device and in most cases it's flashlight, battery/performance improving applications and so forth that will do this.
