Phone is overheating, restarting, no camera and freezes.

Started a week ago, camera went off, all the phone software is up to date by wifi and checked by the 3 shop assistant, cache cleared, apps removed..then the phone overheated, constantly restarts, freezes and randomly gets very hot ..I spoke to Sony who emailed me an Experia companion link, which won't open on my PC (which is maintained etc ) is companion compatible with Windows 10 , 64 Bit,  ..I've just about had it with this phone, I am waiting for a transplant and need my phone on 24 x 7 but it is off maybe 12 hours daily!!... can anyone help, I am desperate now ! thanks folks Winking_Face

If u experience that why not you just trade in with another Sony Xperia smartphone and my suggest Is Xperia X.

@stee41

1 your phone probably doesn't have enough free internal storage, there is nothing to suggest here other than free up internal storage.

2 reinstall XC on your computer and check a different computer as this is most likely your computer acting up

3 The phone can't overheat, if you have a lot of apps running and the phone gets hot it will shutdown to prevent getting any damage

4 Repair the phone with XC and report back

Download the Xperia Companion from http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/Software%20Downloads/Xperia%20Companion/XperiaCompanion....

If that's the link you were provided, then it is Windows 10 x64 compatible, and there's something else causing the installation error

Hi @stee41,

I'm so sorry to hear about your phone. Slightly_frowning_Face

Xperia Companion is compatible with Windows 7, Windows 8/8.1 and Windows 10.

Based on the information in your post I agree with the email response you received from your local support, a software repair is the next troubleshooting step for your phone.

The link provided by @NeoBeum is correct link to where you can download Xperia Companion for your PC. You can find it on the link below as well.

http://support.sonymobile.com/global-en/xperiam4aqua/tools/xperia-companion/

Have you tried to install the program with that link? If you did, how did it work out, have you been able to complete the software repair?

If your device still under warranty so just replace it
with new one..

Hi @Bona1, welcome to our forums!

I'm so sorry to hear about this. Slightly_frowning_Face

I would recommend that you press and hold the volume up key and ON/OFF button for 10 seconds, you will receive 3 vibrations and the phone will power off. Try starting the device as normal with the ON/OFF button.

If the device still isn't powering on or you can't charge it, open up the cover for the memory card and press the small "OFF" button with the tip of a pen for 10 seconds, the phone will power off. You can also press the same button for 120 seconds and ignore all vibrations > start the phone or charge it.

Connect your phone to a wall socket with the original cable and charger and charge the phone for 3-4 hours.

Are you able to power on the phone now?

Let me know how it goes! Slightly_smiling_Face

same issue here with the phone i bought my son for his birthday, 10 months old and it got so hot when charging it almost melted. luckily we smelt it. Too hot to touch on the back where the battery is.Phone is now DEAD. sent it off for warranty repair and advised we have to pay £45 to replace the usb port.

obviously the problem is out there as per this forum but sony deny there is one. this also happened to my 6 month old Z5, which did get a warranty repair, so i think yes there is a problem when charging sony mobiles. I WILL NOT BE BUYING ANY MORE SONY MOBILE PRODUCTS
