Hi @Jenny25, sorry to hear about this. Slightly_frowning_Face

To enter safe mode, press the power button until you see the "Power off" screen in the middle of your display. Release the power button > press and hold on "Power off" for 4-5 seconds and the device will automatically reboot and restart in safe mode.

Even if you have uninstalled certain applications, it can still be one of the applications that you have not yet uninstalled that is the culprit, as @Viridis mentioned.

Let us know how it goes!

Hi how can I locate safe mode on my Sony Xperia L1?

I understand the booting in safe mode, but once it has restarted, how do I find which app is causing the popups?

Hi @strawberrymonster, sorry to hear about this. Must be very annoying having ads pop up all the time. Slightly_frowning_Face

We don't send out any pop up ads to your device so it does sound like you have installed a third party application that sends out these ads to your device.

If you restart your device in safe mode do you still see these ads? In safe mode all downloaded applications are temporarily inactivated and we can very easily see if any of them is the cause of this.

You can also take a screenshot of one of the ads and upload them here to the forum. To do that, press and hold the power button > tap "Take screenshot".

@Covfc87 unfortunately it's a case of going through them one by one until you find the culprit. Also check play store reviews as they will often have reviews off users that have found such adware. Good luck #PUSB

Hello everyone and I apologize for my late reply, I have been out of office due to vacation.

@Obkaay, If you click on the blue text safe mode, there are some instructions available on how you can reboot your device in safe mode.

@Covfc87, as @Viridis mentioned, there is no direct way to see which application the ads are coming from, but free games, strange Online shopping applications are often the culprit. Also reading the reviews is a good way too see if other users experience the same behaviour.

Let us know if you were able to find the application! Slightly_smiling_Face

Hi, just as a bit of help, I had an app causing the pop up ads (so  annoying) , it was a notepad app, unfortunately I can't remember the exact name of the app. Uninstalled and all fixed. I basically just uninstalled each app until the ads stopped to figure out which one.

Yeah my daughter put a drawing pad app on her tablet Z3, endless popups and lock screen adverts.

As people have written, it's probably probably some app that made it.

When I had the same problem, I wrote up all the apps I had, then I just cleared all the folders, took home an anti-virus app, used it, removed it and then I started taking back all the apps and then my problem disappeared. . Good luck Slightly_smiling_Face
