pop up ads

i switched from ios to android just last week. i noticed one thing that irritates me a lot. pop up ads. it literally pop ups everywhere with no apps open even at lockscreen. how can i remove this? i already turned off ads personalization i. google settings

Hey, had the same issue xperia xz premium. I'm not sure why it is happening but it seems to be from a third party app and something to do with Sony. For me it turned out to be Instagram but I had to pretty much delete apps 1 by 1 until I figured out which one it was. I've never had this issue before until this phone but Sony will tell you it's nothing to do with the phone. Whatever. Put your phone into safe mode and if the ads stop you'll know it's an app creating the problem. Then while in safe mode delete Instagram first and reboot out of safe mode. Wait a couple of days as the ads may return, if not you got the app. This was my experience, could be different for others.

@Bunyipbait, Hi again and glad to hear that you were able to find which application was the cause for your ads.

Have you installed the Instagram application from the Google Play store? Most of the really big applications can be faked on other websites and since they are not the official versions of the application, they may contain ads, apart from the usual ads that show up in the "feed" on Instagram.

Everything on this phone was a straight transfer from my old phone hence the ongoing belief that there is something about the OS that has allowed the ads. It (Instagram) was originally downloaded from play store and has previously not given any issues. Regardless, hopefully I can now enjoy using this phone as I should.

Is there an app to block these adverts as due to my business i cannot get rid of facebook or instagram apps

it doesn't look like either of those were the ones causing the regular ads popping up on my phone but just in case id like an ad blocker that actually blocks them from the phone ( not just it seems browers )

Pop up ads will always use the "draw over other apps" permission.

Find the app using this permission with no need (i.e Facebook messenger uses it for Floating heads) and remove that app.

Hello everyone, sorry for the late reply. I have been out of office due to vacation.

@kj75, I have not heard about either Facebook or Instagram showing ads outside of the application. From my own experience, it mostly downloaded games or less known applications that will have pop up ads outside of the application.

I would recommend that you go through your applications and see if you have any boosting or speed increasing applications or anything else that looks a bit fishy.

@Andy125, have you tried restarting your device in safe mode and see if you still see these adverts?

I have put on safe mode and no ads have come up, from what you said ads only pop up from third party if its fro. Third party but no ads on safe mode, I've only got ads out of safe mode, what am I supposed to do now?
